LOGAN — Warren Miller's iconic ski films have been dazzling lovers of snow for decades.

His company's latest release, "Chasing Shadows", features Logan-based entrepreneur Jeremy Jensen shredding Utah's slopes on his handcrafted boards. The film is Warren Miller Entertainment's 66th annual production.

"This year's film will inspire viewers to search out their dreams and find freedom," longtime director of cinematography Chris Patterson said in a statement. "Our athletes show us that anything is possible if your passions and desires are in the right direction."

"Chasing Shadows" debuted in Salt Lake City on Oct. 16, but its tour is back in Utah this week for showings at Mount Logan Middle School on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. While the Thursday and Friday showings have already sold out, tickets are still available for 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. viewings on Saturday.

Jensen was born in Salt Lake City and got his start skiing at the tender age of 2 at Powder Mountain, according to his bio on the WME website. At age 13 he learned to snowboard and eventually, in the backcountry of Northern Utah, he invented what he calls "powsurfing."

In 2007, Jensen launched Grassroots Powdersurfing from a garage in Logan. The company sells his handcrafted Powsurfers, which he describes as being a binding-less hybrid of a surfboard, skateboard and snowboard.

Jensen rode several of his boards in "Chasing Shadows." Filming in Utah this past season was tricky due to the unusually warm season, according to Jensen.

"When you're riding without any bindings every move requires more focus, judgement, balance and skill," he wrote. "Everything you do is much more difficult when you are dealing with variables like sticky snow, crusty snow, and shallow coverage. These conditions really pushed my skills as a rider and it really put the board designs to the test. These conditions forced me to be more creative in finding new terrain and this always kept me thinking outside the box."

The national "Chasing Shadows" tour is running through December. In addition to Utah, athletes were filmed in Nepal, Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, France, Chile, Italy, Japan and Switzerland.
