Former Corrections Employee Facing Sex Charges

Investigators say in April, 29-year-old William Lawrence forced a woman to have sex with him in an apartment off Redwood Road.

In court papers filed today, the victim accuses Lawrence of intimidating her with his police badge.

Capt. Gary Cox, West Jordan Police Dept.: "He made threats to her that if she did not comply with his demands..he would take her to jail and notify the department of child and family services because she had children. "

Lawrence is accused of handcuffing the woman to the bed. He is facing violent sex charges.

Police do not know if the two were strangers. To their knowledge, they did not have a relationship.

Lawrence was fired from the Department of Corrections when the allegations came out.

Police say he does not have a prior criminal record. He was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County jail Thursday afternoon.
