GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — Defending NCAA hockey champion North Dakota will host the 2018 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game against archrival Minnesota at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

UND announced Wednesday that the game will be played Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018. The announcement was made in Las Vegas, with Nevada Lt. Gov. Mark Hutchison on hand.

Fighting Hawks coach Brad Berry says the game will be fun for players and fans and hopefully will help grow college hockey in the western U.S.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 10, 2017.

Golden Gophers athletic director Mark Coyle says the university is "always interested in providing new and exciting experiences" for players and fans.

The programs will resume their long-standing series this season with a two-game series Nov. 4-5 at Minnesota, before playing a two-game series at North Dakota during the 2017-18 season. Minnesota announced that the two programs have also finalized a four-year series agreement starting with the 2019-20 season.
