ESTERO, Fla. (AP) — Amber Deane scored a career-high 29 points and Dayton topped No. 22 Louisville 79-66 in the third-place game at the Gulf Coast Showcase on Sunday.
Deane was 8 of 12 from the floor and perfect on 11 attempts from the line with six rebounds and six assists. Kelley Austria scored 18 points and Saicha Grant-Allen added 11 points.
Louisville was led by Mariya Moore with 23 points. Myisha Hines-Allen had 20 points and eight rebounds while Taja Cole added 11 points.
Dayton (5-1) started slowly, as Louisville ran out to a 14-2 lead and led 18-9 after one quarter. But Dayton went on a 14-0 run in the second and the teams were tied at 28 at halftime. The Flyers led by one with 8:16 left and outscored Louisville by 10 in the fourth quarter.
The Cardinals, which were ranked in the top 10 in the preseason, fell to 1-4 after consecutive losses.
