ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have called up right-hander Joel De La Cruz from Triple-A Gwinnett to make his major league debut in Wednesday night's start against the Cleveland Indians.
De La Cruz was 1-3 with a 4.68 ERA in 21 appearances, including five starts, with Gwinnett. His ERA as a starter, his most recent role, was 3.38.
To make room on the roster, the Braves optioned left-hander Matt Marksberry to Gwinnett. Marksberry was recalled for his second stint with Atlanta on Saturday, when he allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings.
