WEST POINT — Police arrested a man who they say beat and raped a woman in his house and wouldn’t let her leave.
Brandon Dunaj, 40, of West Point, was booked into the Davis County Jail on Friday for investigation of rape, aggravated kidnapping and assault.
Dunaj and the woman went to a concert on Sept. 12 in West Valley City. On the way back to Dunaj’s residence after the show, he began assaulting her, according to a police affidavit. Police say the attack continued at his house.
“She was struck multiple times in his vehicle and at the residence. She made two attempts to leave once at Brandon’s home. On one incident, Brandon dragged her by her hair inside the house where he continued to assault her. On a second incident, he dragged her from the front lawn and attacked her,” the affidavit states.
Dunaj also forced the woman to have sex with him, which she “did not consent but agreed because she did not want to be assaulted again,” the report says.
About 3:30 a.m. on Sept. 13, the woman was able to escape from the house while Dunaj was asleep, and began “knocking on neighbors’ doors looking for help,” according to the affidavit.
Emergency crews responded and the woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a severely swollen right eye, as well as bruising around her eye, face, ears and neck, the report states.
“The victim stated Brandon had grabbed on to her neck out of anger. The victim’s arms and shoulders had multiple bruises. The victim’s hands and forearms had bruising that she said were from blocking Brandon’s many strikes,” according to the affidavit.
When deputies went to the house, they reported finding “drag marks from her vehicle to the garage, and from the grass/dirt/rocks toward the home.”
