SALT LAKE CITY — The Pioneer Day parade tradition started in 1849, two years after the first pioneers arrived in Salt Lake Valley.
The parade has a great, rich tradition in Utah. So many things have changed in the 165 years since the first parade, but you might also be surprised at how much will always stay the same.
Ron Fox is a photo historian with access to amazing images of Utah's past. He says Utahns are committed to maintaining ties to the past.
"The people in this 50th anniversary (photo) had a lot to be proud of. They built a city in the desert, and that's an incredible accomplishment," Fox said.
