MAGNA — A 60-year-old woman is dead after the vehicle she was riding in ran a red light and hit another driver, police said Wednesday.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said there were three people in a Nissan Altima that ran through a red light as the car headed east at 3100 South about 8:20 p.m. The car collided with a Honda Accord northbound on 7200 West.

The injured woman was in the passenger seat of the vehicle when it was hit. She was transported to Intermountain Medical Center where she died as a result of her injuries. She has been identified as Maria Corona, 60.

The driver of the Altima, a 38-year-old woman, was also transported to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition. Police did not release her name, nor the name of a 6-year-old boy who was riding in the backseat, who was also transported with minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda Accord that was hit, a 16-year-old boy, was unharmed.
