BOUNTIFUL — If it seems a little warm this first week of December, that's because it is. But that warm weather is also making for a fun and interesting start to the holiday season.

For many, it doesn't feel like December at all: The grass is still green and you can still play a round of golf. Weather-wise, we're getting rain rather than snow; and at close to 50 degrees, all you need is a jacket.

For Jane Hughes, it's perfect weather for a walk in her Bountiful neighborhood. "It would be nice to have a little bit of snow," she said, "but it's nice to be able to walk with no snow as well."

As Hughes remembers, last year we didn't have much snow at the start of December either. But no one was out walking in Davis County, they were ducking for cover and cleaning up thousands of dollars of damage from a wind storm.

Also, in one day Wednesday, we had more precipitation than we had the entire month of December in 2011.

Still, it's warm; and Utah isn't the only state experiencing above-normal temperatures. According to the National Climatic Data Center, over 1,600 daily warm temperature records were tied or broken across the United States in the seven-day period, from Nov. 27 through Dec. 3.

While it's nice not to have to shovel your walk or scrape your windshield, there are some hopes we could have some snow for the holidays.

"The snow can come at Christmas," said Lauren Greenwald, a nanny in Davis County. "That's what I would like."

Greenwald just may get her wish. KSL Meteorologist Jodi Saeland says a cold storm is expected to roll in Saturday morning, bringing snow to the valley floors.
