ZURICH (AP) — FIFA says the CEO of its $140 million soccer museum in Zurich is leaving amid reports of poor visitor numbers since opening in February.
FIFA agreed with Stefan Jost "to part company by the end of October 2016 due to contrasting views on future plans for the FIFA World Football Museum."
Jost leaves as FIFA leaders reevaluate how they spend more than $5 billion income from each World Cup.
The museum opening was the first official duty of FIFA President Gianni Infantino two days after his election.
The project — a museum on three floors, sports bar and apartments for rent — was a favorite of former FIFA President Sepp Blatter. It was projected to attract 250,000 visitors annually.
FIFA also spent $27 million buying a neighboring hotel.
