Weber State junior shooting guard Scott Bamforth is known for, just that, shooting. He’s one of the best shooters in the Big Sky Conference and in the nation for that matter, just ask Utah State who Bamforth lit up for 28 points on seven 3-pointers two months ago.
But Bamforth’s shooting percentage is just half the story, if that. Bamforth’s is a story of perseverance and determination. He’s overcome the untimely deaths of both of his parents and many more setbacks while making his way from Albuquerque, N.M., to Western Nebraska Community College and now to Weber State.
Now, just 10 weeks after the dangerously premature birth of his first child, Bamforth is helping lead the best basketball team in the Big Sky Conference. Bamforth and his wife, Kendra, have shared that journey together and now they are sharing the joy of overcoming the rough patches along the way.
In this one-on-one interview with Trevor Amicone, Bamforth opens up about the difficulties he faced with the death of his parents and how he overcame them. Also, watch his face brighten up as he talks about the new addition to the Bamforth family.
Amicone also asks Bamforth about what it’s like playing with Wildcat star Damian Lillard and how the team has gotten so close as a group.
