ROME — Empoli has scored a goal in each half to defeat Fiorentina 2-0 in the Tuscan derby. Francisco Caputo got the first and Emmanuel Gyasi doubled Empoli's lead nine minutes from time. The result is a big setback for Fiorentina, which started the day in joint fourth place. The win is Empoli's second in nine games. Substitute Roberto Piccoli scored late as Lecce salvaged a 1-1 draw at Udinese. Udinese has only six points from nine games while Lecce has 13 points. Lecce has gone four games without a win after earning 11 points from its first five matches.
