NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans could be without starting offensive tackles Taylor Lewan and Michael Oher for the third straight game with both doubtful for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
Left tackle Lewan was limited Wednesday in practice, but did not work either Thursday or Friday due to a left high ankle sprain. Oher has not practiced all week and got a second opinion on his injured left toe.
Lewan says all he can do is keep working to try and get better, though he indicated that it was possible he could miss the final three games.
"I'm just going to keep working and doing the things I need to do to make sure that when I do go back in, whether it's this year, or next year, I'm prepared and ready to go," Lewan said.
Being placed on injured reserve isn't Lewan's decision, and he said the Titans know he will play if he is healthy enough to play.
"I'm not the kind of guy that's not going to sit out because we're not making the playoffs or something like that," Lewan said.
The two tackles head a long list of Titans players who did not practice Friday due to injuries. Quarterback Zach Mettenberger is out with his injured right shoulder, and the group includes backup right tackle Byron Stingily questionable with an ankle injury.
"We've got a lot of things up in the air right now," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "So we'll see."
All others on the injury report are questionable. That list includes linebacker Kamerion Wimbley (left hamstring), wide receiver Kendall Wright (right hand) and safeties Daimion Stafford (concussion) and Michael Griffin (back). Stafford and Griffin practiced fully Friday, but Stafford still needs final clearance from the NFL's concussion protocol before he can play.
