GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Adrian Rodgers scored a career-high 30 points as Southern University beat Grambling State 79-66 on Saturday night.

Rodgers was 8 of 14 from the field including four 3-pointers for the Jaguars (16-7, 8-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Trelun Banks added 18 points and Christopher Hyder had 10 points, six assists and six steals. The team hit 51 percent from the field overall and 74 percent from the foul line.

Ervin Mitchell scored 26 points for the Tigers (6-16, 3-7) who hit 44.6 percent from the field overall and 56.3 percent from the line. Deonte Hearns added 15 points and six rebounds and Nigel Ribeiro chipped in 10 points with five rebounds.

Southern took a 33-27 lead at the break and outscored Grambling State 46-39 in the second half to notch its eighth-straight win.

The Tigers have now lost five in a row.
