BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Christian Ibarra reached base on a throwing error in the bottom of the eighth, scored the go-ahead run on another throw-away, and LSU rallied to beat Southeastern Louisiana 8-4 on Friday in the opening game of the NCAA tournament's Baton Rouge regional.
Southeastern (37-24) led 4-2 after Sam Roberson's two-run home run in the top of the sixth, but LSU (45-14-1) pulled within a run on a throwing error that brought Alex Bregman home in the seventh. Tyler Moore's third hit of the game drove home the tying run later that inning.
After Ibarra scored the go-head run on reliever Dylan Hills' botched pickoff attempt, LSU added three more unearned runs, highlighted by Sean McMullen's two-run homer.
Hills (6-4) took the loss for Southeastern, which committed four errors in all. Nate Fury (3-1) threw two shutout innings in relief for the win.
