MIAMI (AP) — The Heat and Spurs are back at it tonight with Game 3 of the NBA Finals. They split the first two games of the best-of-seven series before heading to Miami for tonight's game. They'll square off again in Game 4 Thursday night.

UNDATED (AP) — As expected, the Knicks introduced Derek Fisher as their new head coach today. Fisher put the finishing touches on an 18-year playing career this season with Oklahoma City. With the Knicks he is reunited with team president Phil Jackson, who coached Fisher in Los Angeles with the Lakers.

SEAL BEACH, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland athletics say that former Cy Young Award winner Bob Welch has died at the age of 57. In a statement the A's said the two-time All-Star died in Seal Beach, California, on Monday night and that no cause of death was released.

BALTIMORE (AP) — Third baseman Manny Machado (muh-CHA'-doh) of the Orioles has been suspended for five games and fined for intentionally throwing his bat on the field during Sunday's game against Oakland. After the bat went soaring, both benches emptied and Machado was ejected.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Texans say offensive tackle David Quessenberry has lymphoma. The team says the 23-year-old had a persistent cough over the past week and was tired, prompting him to seek an evaluation. He is being treated at a Houston-area hospital.
