MILWAUKEE (AP) — Ron Roenicke has a contract to manage the Brewers through next year after the club exercised its option for 2015.

General manager Doug Melvin says he is confident in Roenicke after the skipper's leadership through an injury-filled and sometimes turbulent season last year.

Roenicke is entering his fourth year in Milwaukee. He has a record of 253-233, and the Brewers won the 2011 NL Central title and a franchise-record 96 games his first season.

The Brewers' win total declined each of the next two years. They were 74-88 in 2013, finishing in fourth place in a season marked by the doping suspension of outfielder Ryan Braun and injuries to key players including Braun, third baseman Aramis Ramirez and outfielder Corey Hart.
