PROVO -- BYU men's head volleyball coach, Shawn Patchell, was released of his duties at the University Wednesday effective immediately.

BYU Director of Athletics Tom Holmoe made the announcement Wedneaday, naming Rob Neilson, who has been an assistant men's volleyball coach for the past three seasons, as interim coach.

Holmoe also indicated the University is conducting an investigation regarding potential NCAA violations in the volleyball program, but stated the school would have no further comment at this time.
