(KSL News) The Woods Cross City Council approved more than $200,000 in budget cuts for the remainder of the fiscal year.
The cutbacks mean the city won't spend money on a new police car or a building inspector. The city estimates with fewer building permits being requested, that cut alone will save $60,000.
The Deseret News reports the City Council also cut a new $20,000 mower, money for training and extra funds budgeted in wages.
The city administrator told the newspaper this was the first round of cuts. He also called this the toughest economic climate the city has seen in more than a decade.
