SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A late-winter storm in Utah will raise avalanche danger in some areas.
The Utah Avalanche Center has issued an avalanche watch for the mountains of northern Utah.
A large weather system was expected to dump heavy snow in parts of Utah on Monday. The center says the conditions will make it easier for people to trigger avalanches in the backcountry.
The center says people should avoid steep avalanche paths and shouldn't go beneath them during periods of heavy snowfall.
The alert does not include ski areas and sections of highway where avalanche control is conducted.
