WEST VALLEY CITY -- The mayor of West Valley City says he's getting some support for his advertisement supporting EnergySolutions.

Some are raising their eyebrows about the paid ad, which ran in the Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune. But Mayor Mike Winder says he felt he had to stand up for business.

"We have a company here, in my opinion, that is the most misunderstood company in Utah," he said.

Winder makes the point he has disclosed everything about his dealings with EnergySolutions.

"I mentioned the fact that I solicited a small campaign contribution from them last year and that my wife worked for them 11 years ago, and that The Summit Group where I work as a marketer does mailers and ads for them as well," he said.

Winder was also not paid for the ad.

He says he has received some phone calls of support for his stand.
