SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A new round of snow moving through northern Utah is expected to increase avalanche danger in the mountains.
The Utah Avalanche Center says a storm starting Tuesday night and continuing into Wednesday will bring heavy, wet snow that can overwhelm lighter layers already on the ground.
The center is warning skiers to be careful and check conditions before they hit the slopes, especially in the backcountry.

Commuters, though, aren't expected to see as much accumulation as they have in recent days. The National Weather Service says about an inch is forecast for the valleys.
The snowfall is set to crank up again Thursday morning and drop up to 5 inches on valley floors of Salt Lake and Utah County, with more on the benches, and up to 8 inches between Salt Lake City and Ogden.
