SALT LAKE CITY — Two people were injured when a semitrailer tipped onto its side after failing to make a turn.

Just after 5 a.m. Saturday, a semitrailer driver lost control of his vehicle while taking the ramp from eastbound I-80 to go south on I-15.

"The driver came into the curve of the roadway too fast and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle rolled over onto its left side where it pinned the driver inside the vehicle," according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The 54-year-old driver, from Ontario, Canada, had to be extricated from the truck. He was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. A 27- year-old man in the sleeper, also from Ontario, suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The truck was hauling produce, which stayed intact, according to the UHP.
