PROVO — An SUV led police on a chase from Provo to Alpine, crashing into a home during the pursuit, according to Provo police.
About 10 a.m. Tuesday, an officer attempted to make traffic stop at 200 N. 850 West, believing the vehicle to be stolen, according to a Facebook post by Provo police.
The driver said he didn't know the vehicle was stolen and that a friend, Joshua Kunz, asked him to drive it to Salt Lake City. The man also told the officer his friend was driving a white Toyota Highlander, which Unified police had identified as stolen, Provo police said.
Investigators tracked down the Highlander driven by Kunz, with a female passenger. But when police confronted him, he drove west on 300 South and struck a house near 900 West, smashing through the wall into a bedroom.
A Utah County Sheriff's Office fixed-wing aircraft monitored the SUV from the air as Kunz drove north on I-15.
Utah County Sheriff’s Office deputies also began trailing Kunz through north Utah County until the chase ended in Alpine.
Officers arrested Kunz, 33, and Linda Rose Garcia, 29, in connection with the pursuit. Kunz and Garcia were taken into custody for investigation of evading police, drug possession and possessing stolen property.
