PARK CITY — Authorities are investigating what led to the death of a snowboarder after he was found buried in snow Thursday morning. The Summit County Sheriff's Office said it responded to a report of an injured snowboarder at the Canyons Village at Park City Mountain. "An adult male snowboarder was found buried in snow near the 'Alley' run,'" the office's press release stated. "A family member assisted ski patrollers in locating and digging the individual out before he was transported to an on-site medical facility." The office said the snowboarder was later pronounced deceased. "While the exact circumstances surrounding how the individual became buried remain unclear, there are no indications that the incident was avalanche related," the office said. The office identified the man as a 55-year-old visiting from another state.
