SALT LAKE CITY — Police have located the semitruck driver who they believe unknowingly hit a bicyclist Thursday morning.

The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. near 400 West and 300 North in Salt Lake City, according to Salt Lake City police. The semitruck was traveling eastbound on 300 North when it turned left onto 400 West, hitting a female bicyclist before driving off. The semitruck driver may not have realized that he hit someone, police said.

The woman struck her head on the ground and was dragged a "short ways" by the semi, police said. The 25-year-old female bicyclist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but was later upgraded to stable condition.

Friday morning, police said they located the semitruck driver and are interviewing him and performing a truck examination. No citations have yet been issued and the investigation is ongoing.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
