Police identify motorcyclist killed during crash in Big Cottonwood Canyon

BIG COTTONWOOD CANYON — Police identified a 62-year-old man Wednesday who died after crashing into the rock face in Big Cottonwood Canyon Tuesday afternoon, according to the Unified Police Department.

Barry S. Walton, of Taylorsville, was driving his motorcycle just above the S-curve in the canyon when he drove off the road and crashed into the rock face on the side of the road, police said.

Police responded to the crash around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon near 7000 East. Walton died of his injuries on the scene.

The cause of the crash is still unknown. This article will be updated with more information as it becomes available.
