SALT LAKE CITY — The young boy who died after drowning in a pond outside a northern Salt Lake County home was identified by police Saturday.

Dylan Diehl, who was 22-months old, was found floating face up in a pond on the property by his mother Friday, according to the Unified Police Department. The boy went missing while playing with several friends at about 6:45 p.m.

Family members created a GoFundMe account* to help cover expenses related to his death.

“(Dylan) absolutely loved everything about this world and was eager to learn how everything worked,” Megan Diehl wrote on the page. “He was always on the move and wanted whoever was close to be a part of his exploration. He taught me a great deal about cherishing the little things in life and stopping to admire the beauty all around.”

Dylan has three siblings, according to the GoFundMe page.
