A video posted on Utah Fire Info's social media page shows a huge plume of smoke near the mountain, with visible flames.
Officials said gusty winds and steep, rocky terrain are making conditions challenging for crews to get a good handle on the fire in some areas.
Initially, the agency said no structures were at risk, but in an update just before 7 p.m, approximately 10 structures in the Fool Creek area "could potentially be threatened."
Multiple power lines in the area are also within the fire's sight, so crews have de-energized them for public and firefighter safety. Crews anticipate they will be re-energized within two hours, according to Utah Fire Info.
Evacuations have not been ordered as the fire is moving away from the community. But road closures are in effect for Leamington Pass and Fool Creek Roads.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
