CEDAR CITY — One person was hospitalized with serious injuries Monday after a shooting inside of a Cedar City home where police were serving a search warrant.

About 5 p.m., officers were executing a search warrant at a home in the 350 block of 400 North, the Cedar City Police Department said in a news release. At some point while police were serving the warrant, "a firearm was discharged inside the residence."

Preliminary findings from the incident indicated the firearm was not discharged by a law enforcement officer, police said. One person who sustained serious injuries in the incident was taken to a hospital.

No officers were injured, and there no ongoing threat to the public, police said.
