1 shot, injured as police served search warrant in Cedar City

CEDAR CITY — One person was hospitalized with serious injuries Monday after a shooting inside of a Cedar City home where police were serving a search warrant. But officers were not directly involved in the shooting, according to Cedar City police.

About 5 p.m., officers were executing a search warrant at a home in the 350 block of 400 North. At some point, "a firearm was discharged inside the residence," police said.

Preliminary findings from the incident indicated the firearm was not discharged by a police officer, but Cedar City police did not say who fired the gun. One person who sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.

No other details were released.
