SALT LAKE CITY -- A murder trial got underway in Salt Lake City Monday morning, more than a decade after the crime.
Michael Johnson is accused of strangling Cathy Cobb in her apartment in January of 1998.
At the time, he was suspected of the murder but prosecutors did not have enough evidence to file charges.
That changed in 2007 when police were able to use new DNA technology to test fingernail clippings taken from the victim and identify Johnson as her likely killer.
