SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The University of Utah has received a pledge of $1.25 million from the Micron Technology Foundation to help develop a nanofabrication teaching and research laboratory for microelectronics.
The lab is part of the Utah Science, Technology and Research (USTAR) program to turn technology into commerical products and business opportunities. The nanofab lab will have vibration-free, clean-room technology.
In 2006, the Legislature voted to make a $400 million investment in university research at the University of Utah and Utah State University through the USTAR initiative.
