LAYTON -- The principal of Layton High School says he hasn't done anything wrong and is not happy about being placed on paid administrative leave.
Paul Smith says Davis School District administrators told him they're just following standard financial audit procedures.
He tells the Deseret News he hasn't done anything wrong. He says the leave is not a disciplinary measure, but he's still not happy about it.
The newspaper reports assistant principal Muriel Mann told Layton High's Community Council on Wednesday that the school's finances are being audited.
Davis School District spokesman Chris Williams told the Deseret News an investigation involving Smith began Monday, when he was put on leave. But Williams wouldn't confirm whether a financial audit is part of the district's investigation.
Layton police told the Deseret News there is currently no criminal investigation into Layton High's finances.
