DRAPER, Utah (AP) -- A man who opened fire on a crowd of people outside an amusement center back in 2003 will not be granted parole until at least 2016.
Yesterday, 19-year-old David Van went before the parole board --- hoping for an early release --- but was denied parole. However, the Utah Board of Pardons and Parole says the teen will have at least one more rehearing in April 2016. At that time, the board will --- again --- consider if Van should be released from prison.
Van opened fire outside the Utah Fun Dome back in 2003, injuring six people. He told the parole board he was looking for rival gang members.
