CEDAR CITY — A fire destroyed one home and damaged the siding of several others Friday.
The fire near 2100 N. Cliffrose Drive was reported just after 3 p.m. Two people were able to escape the home without injury.
Firefighters arrived to find a home completely engulfed in flames. High winds and the fire's extreme heat also affected several homes nearby and made work difficult for firefighters, according to Cedar City Police Sgt. Jerry Womack. The fire was put out in roughly 20 minutes.
The home where the fire originated was a total loss, and the outsides of several others were warped, Womack said. A camping trailer was also destroyed.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. A dollar estimate of the damage was not released Friday.
