(KSL News) Friends and family of a famous face in Utah athletics and politics paid tribute on Monday.

Marv Jenson died last week. He helped guide the career of Utah boxing legend Gene Fulmer, who won the World Middleweight Championship in the 1950s. A fitness center in South Jordan bears Jenson's name.

Jenson was also active in politics, serving as a Salt Lake County commissioner, an assistant director for state parks and recreation and the mayor of West Jordan.

Marv Jenson was 89 years old.
