Andrew Adams Reporting There is heated opposition to a proposal that would turn the Mountain View corridor and Legacy Parkway into high-tech toll roads.

Taylorsville Mayor Russ Wall slams Mike Jerman with the Utah Taxpayers Association.

Russ Wall: "It's less regressive to Mike Jerman…Let's have him propose a toll road that's between him and his place of work. I think we would find that to be regressive."

Jerman's idea is that tolls target lower income folks less than the sales tax that pays for roads. Plus they should ease congestion.

However, Alan Anderson with Chamber West says ‘no'.

Alan Anderson: "If Mountain View were a toll road you would see minimal use on it."

Bodie Phillips, Salt Lake County resident: "Start it up on the east side. The higher income should be paying higher taxes as far as I'm concerned."

He says the plan picks on the west.

Truckers are joining the growing opposition.
