(Picture courtesy BYU Athletics)PROVO -- Brigham Young University Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall announced Tuesday defensive back Shiloah Te'o was dismissed from the team due to a violation of team rules.

As per team policy, the violation was not disclosed.

Te'o, a 5-foot-10, 206-pound sophomore from Laie, Hawai'i, has played in all five BYU games this season as a reserve safety. He has recorded five tackles, including one tackle for a loss.

He saw action on special teams in 11 games as a freshman in 2008, recording five tackles and one fumble recovery.
