Tom Callan reportingYour water and power bill could soon be going up if you live in Bountiful.
A contract with Idaho Power that supplied power at a relatively low rate has expired. Now Bountiful is considering raising the average power bill by 10 percent.
City Manager Tom Hardy says, "For the average homeowner, that's about $7 a month on a $70-a-month average bill."
Water rates could jump up 30 percent. Hardy says there is at least $1 million worth of repairs on old, creaking water lines. He says, "I expect that there will be people down here wanting to see us justify the reasons for the increase."
A public hearing is set for June 10 at the Bountiful City Hall, located at 790 S. 100 East. The city council votes on June 17.
