SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Plans to bring polar bears back to Hogle Zoo got a boost Monday when the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation donated $3 million to help fund the construction of a new Arctic Exhibit.

The exhibit is expected to cost $19.6 million and is part of Hogle's "Renew the Zoo" master plan.

Early plans call for a "nose-to-nose" glass-viewing of the polar bears and possible encounters with seals, Arctic foxes, wolves and snowy owls.

Zoo officials say the design phase for the exhibit will last through the end of the 2008, with construction expected to begin in 2009.
