LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) — A 30-year-old man police say attacked a northern Idaho couple and their toddler with bear spray to steal a purse containing $8,000 has been charged with robbery and felony injury to a child.
The Lewiston Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2cEDVUR) that 30-year-old Matthew R. Starkey was charged Monday and is being held on $50,000 bond.
Police say Starkey and Justin C. Jones on Jan. 4 attacked the couple with the potent type of pepper spray and forced their way into the couple's apartment.
Jones was arrested last week and is being held on $75,000 bond. He faces the same charges as Starkey.
According to court documents, a witness reported Starkey doused the family with bear spray before tossing the canister away.
Police later collected the canister as evidence.
