IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A public defender has filed another petition to overturn an Idaho man's 1996 conviction for rape and murder.
The Post Register reports (http://bit.ly/1XoUtkY ) that attorneys say Chris Tapp should be given a new trial because prosecutors didn't turn over some evidence that could show he is innocent.
Tapp was convicted of the 1996 murder of 18-year-old Angie Dodge after confessing to police.
A number of wrongful conviction organizations have issued reports finding Tapp was wrongfully convicted. Those reports led to DNA evidence from the crime scene being retested. None of the DNA could be linked to Tapp.
In the new filing, lawyer John Thomas argues that videos of three polygraph sessions were never turned over to Tapp's defense and that those videos could have convinced a jury Tapp is innocent.
