CLEARFIELD, Utah (AP) — A fire destroyed a business in Clearfield, causing evacuations and power outages as plumes of black smoke filled the sky.
The Standard Examiner of Ogden reports (http://bit.ly/2aeu6N5 ) that the 12 employees at Albion Minerals got out of the building safely Monday. But six firefighters went to the hospital for heat and smoke inhalation.
North Davis Fire District spokesman Mark Sessions says the building is a total loss. Investigators don't know the cause yet.
Fire crews were able to keep the fire from reaching 55-gallon ethanol tanks behind the building and gas tanks at a nearby gas station.
Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen says nearly 2,000 customers in Clearfield were without power for a brief time.
A portion of Main Street in Clearfield was closed while crews battled the blaze.
