CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Davidson College has received a $6 million gift which will help fund scholarships for talented students from across the country regardless of their financial background.
The Charlotte Observer reports (http://bit.ly/1vROy7T) Davidson College President Carol Quillen said Thursday the gift from The Duke Endowment will provide $2 million in scholarship funding each year for the next three years.
Quillen said the college's long-standing commitment to educational access was strengthened by the establishment of The Davidson Trust in 2007. The trust meets 100 percent of demonstrated financial need of accepted students through a combination of grants and campus employment, without relying on loans.
The Duke Endowment supported the trust when it was announced with a grant of $15 million.
