EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) — A free public screening of a documentary on how womanhood shapes the immigration experience will be held at Michigan State University.
The 90-minute "Vanishing Borders" is scheduled for showing at 7 p.m. Wednesday at B-122 Wells Hall on the school's East Lansing campus.
Michigan State assistant professor Alexandra Hidalgo produced the documentary. It follows the lives of four women who now live in New York City.
Mother and volunteer Yatna Vakharia is from India, theater student Daphnie Sicre is from Spain, nutritionist Melainie Rogers is from Australia, and higher education professor Teboho Mojais is from South Africa.
The documentary cost $20,000 to produce. Most post-production funding came from a Michigan State University Humanities and Arts Research Program grant and a College of Arts and Letters Research Award.
