MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia University's Personal Rapid Transit System has shut down for maintenance and upgrades.
Projects include installation of a new train control infrastructure and the replacement of select electrical gear. The PRT's associate director, Arlie Forman, says in a university news release that the work is part of a multi-year modernization plan.
The PRT will resume operations on Aug. 10.
Beginning May 18, a free shuttle service will be offered to students. Students and WVU employees also can ride the Mountain Line's Blue and Gold Connector bus route for free with a valid university ID.
