NEW YORK (AP) — NYU Langone and Lutheran Medical Center say their affiliation agreement has received final state approval.
The agreement approved Wednesday extends NYU Langone's presence in Brooklyn and bolsters Lutheran's access to NYU Langone's medical and surgical specialties.
Lutheran Medical Center will now be called NYU Lutheran.
State Sens. Diane Savino and Marty Golden say the partnership will improve healthcare in southwest Brooklyn and help thousands of people who lacked quality, low-cost healthcare options.
They'll share a parent corporation: the NYU Langone Health System. But their administrative and operational functions will remain independent. Each will retain its own board of trustees.
In January, they launched a collaboration in pediatric subspecialty services.
