AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The Maine Board of Pharmacy is calling on the attorney general's office to investigate the actions of a Canadian company that has been marketing low-cost prescription drugs in the state.
The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1odkHU7 ) that the board also has directed the attorney general to send a cease-and-desist letter to Canadadrugcenter.com.
Kenneth "Mac" McCall, president of the Maine Pharmacy Association, filed a complaint with the board in January.
He says the company, which had advertised inexpensive medications in Maine newspapers, is not a licensed pharmacy. He says three medications he bought from the company arrived by mail and were manufactured in India, Turkey and Mauritius, not Canada.
John Myers, a Manitoba attorney representing Canadadrugcenter.com, did not respond to a request for comment.
