(KSL News) Two children are safe at home tonight, as authorities search for a man who tried to abduct them in Kearns.
Salt Lake County sheriff's deputies say an eight-year- old boy and his three-year-old cousin were walking home when a truck pulled up behind him. The boy says a man got out, pulled on a ski mask, and tried to grab his cousin.
Alisia Cobos/Mother: "That's when my son pulled up the piece of rebar and told her to run."
Nathanuel Acevedo/Fought Off Attacker: "I swung the bar and he ran and went to his truck and drove off, and almost hit a car."
The children ran home, told their family, and called deputies for help. Deputies are still looking for the suspect and his car.
He was seen driving a white, Ford pick-up truck with green stripes. Witnesses say it could be an F-250 model.
